Movie reviews, or suffering

Cavuto and Smocha-bert

movie reviews:

O = old lady love factor

C=chick love factor

M=men hate factor

F=family love factor

*'s = MY personal opinion

College Road Trip

, the 2008 comedy COLLEGE ROAD TRIP stars Martin Lawrence as
Chicago cop James Porter, an overprotective father who wants to
his college-bound daughter, Melanie (Raven-Symone), close to home.

* This movie totally sucked!
O,C,M,F, you would all hate it.

Synopsis: Director Kimberly Peirce (BOYS DON'T CRY)
tackles another
controversial topic with STOP-LOSS, the story of a U.S. soldier
forced back into battle. Brandon King (Ryan Phillippe) has just returned
Texas after a harrowing final tour in Iraq. He's accompanied by the
remaining men from his unit, all of whom are more than a little shell-shocked.
Welcomed home as a hero, Brandon is awarded a Purple Heart by a visiting
state senator. But the homecoming quickly turns sour, as each of the soldiers
struggles to assimilate back into society.

***** I want to buy this movie!
O: *****
F:only tweens and up
M:***** Men should love it too.

Meet Bill

Synopsis: Meet Bill (Aaron Eckhart)—a doormat if there ever was one.
A man reduced to a mere accessory to his family by working a dead end
job at his father-in-law's bank, Bill's wife Jess (Elizabeth Banks) is loathe
to explain her "friendship" with the local news anchorman (Timothy Olyphant).
But Bill's fate begins to change when he becomes mentor to a self-assured boy
(Logan Lerman) who engineers Bill's recovery with the help of a cute lingerie sales girl named Lucy (Jessica Alba). Together, the trio confronts Bill's hapless life with humor and energy while forcing him to capture his dream of being financially independent and self-confident.

* This movie is a ridiculous "male fantasy" gone retarded.Is the girl 16 or 25? Is the kid 13? Or 20? OH..*shudder* I'm still reeling from the stupidity.

M, Very "juvenile" males may like it.

Actor-comedian Martin Lawrence (BAD BOYS, BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE) aims
for the heartstrings and funny bones in WELCOME HOME ROSCOE JENKINS,
a raucous helping of family soul food.

**** I sat alone and cackled my ass off watching this.
O, ****

Consensus: One of the brightest, funniest comedies of the year, Juno's smart script and
direction are matched by assured performances in a coming of age story with a 21st century twist.

** I though it was Ok, I hated the music and I hated that her boyfriend
was such a nerdy dog.

F,* Not really a kid movie.
M,_*'s My husband would never live though this movie.

An all-star cast rounds out this crime thriller about Tom Carver (Samuel L. Jackson),
a former cop who has been spending his recent years working as a crime scene decontaminator

**** I liked this one.Suspense, surprise,and gory details.
F,not for little kids

27 Dresses

Jane is idealistic, romantic and completely selfless – a perennial bridesmaid whose own happy
ending is nowhere in sight. But when younger sister Tess captures the heart of Jane’s boss --
with whom she is secretly in love – Jane begins to reexamine her “always-a-bridesmaid….” lifestyle.

***** I want to buy this one. Loved it.
F,*** girls will like it, boys ..probably not .
M,** based on what my son said.....Men may not be able to
handle it. (more than once ,anyway)

Mad Money

Academy Award® winner Diane Keaton (Something’s Gotta Give), Oscar® nominee Queen Latifah
(Chicago) and Katie Holmes (Thank You for Smoking) star in Mad Money, a comedy about three
ordinary women who form an unlikely friendship and decide to do something extraordinary—rob one
of the most secure banks in the world.

*** This was entertaining and the entire movie , I was liking the "white trash girl" had no idea it was Katie Holmes.
M,*** Men should be able to handle it.

P.S. I Love You

Two-time Oscar winner Hillary Swank tries her hand at romantic comedy in this touching film based on the bestselling Irish novel. Holly Kennedy (Swank) and her charming Irish husband Gerry (Gerard Butler) are a young couple struggling to get by in New York City. Their marriage is 10 years strong, and they are madly in love, but the fates soon step in, when Gerry develops cancer and dies.

**** I liked this movie . I love Hilary Swank though, so maybe I'm biased. It's not a happy ,feel good movie.

F,kids would probably be bored .
M,Unless they're a "romantic" I'm sure it would be painful for them.

Lars and the Real GirlRated r

Lars, a sweet but quirky-to-delusional guy, has found the girl of his dreams?a life-sized doll named Bianca. Wen he develops feelings for Margo, an attractive co-worker, Lars finds himself lost in a hilariously unique love triangle.

Death at a FuneralRated r

As the mourners and guests at a British country manor struggle valiantly to "keep a stiff upper lip," a dignified ceremony devolves into a hilarious, no-holds-barred debacle of misplaced cadavers, indecent exposure, and shocking family secrets.

**** I though this movie was hilarious.

F,** Kids probably wouldn't get the humor.
M,**** Even my spouse would like it.
