Ow! that trash shute is sharp.....

And so it begins.......

Winter in Copenhagen. This is what we woke up to this morning.

Yesterday, I went down to our storage bin and got that big suitcase out.I then walked down to the Metro with my huge empty suitcase in tow , rode the Metro to the last stop then walked through Vanlose with my suitcase, to the wonderful store called Jysk.

We were in dire need of a table or shelf of some sort to hold all the electronic crap, which is all over the living room.

I got that bookcase (pictured next to the suitcase) and then got to finagle it home in my huge wheeled suitcase.

A sight that would be laughable back home, not that uncommon here.Welcome to my world :)

Night before last , after much searching, I finally found my arctic snowblast of a coat.

As it was clearly designed for 6 foot tall ,statuesqe types, believe me when I say that it makes me look exactly like the michilin tire man .

Next up was to get some snow boots. No big deal right? Wrong!

Last night I went to the biggest mall in scandinavia and the women were all on snow boot buying frenzy.

They had snatched up every pair of decent looking boots in the entire mall. All that was left were navy blue or gold moon boots.

Was it because they were on sale ,cheap? No! It was because those bitches KNEW it was going to snow last night.

I came home empty handed and now must go out in cold, rubber wellies to find some freaking boots, somewhere.

Maybe one of these too cuz I'm sexy like that.

Last weekend, I actually did go find the flea market.

It was no easy task to get there. A subway, a bus and a very longgggg walk thru a bad-ish neighborhood.

It was freezing BTW.

Anyhow, the flea market was huge and had a ton of stuff. The problem was, none of the stuff had prices. As a rule, I don't like that.If I had bought anything major I have no idea how I could have made it home. All I bought were a bunch of kitchen utensils and a coffee press. (Hubby was upset that I did not buy a table and carry it home) yeah right!

They had a bunch of these kind of things ,which I was very tempted to buy .(For the house back home)
Maybe I'll go back when it's warmer and get some.

And finally......How gross was my shower?

The shower is VERY tall.So they had patched this yellowish material onto a blue and white shower curtain.

The hooks were all rusty. I'm pretty sure the entire creation had never been removed and laundered.

You can imagine my joy every time the ugly thing wafted towards me and clung to my naked body.

heeby jeebies? anyone?(and I mean over the curtain, not my naked body)

Something had to be done. But what????

I stumbled upon these things on Amazon Uk. (don't ask how,cuz I have no clue) and inspiration struck me.

Thanks to those cheapy key chains and jysk.....

Ta da!

Now if I could just find some tablecloth weights for the bottom of it ..........

In other exciting expat-y news......I was recently thrilled beyond words to find a box of yep...crackers. Woo hoo! real crackers and they even had salt on them. Bite me you saw dust flavored WASA crisps. you will never darken my doorstep again.

I aslo scraped the shit out of my arm yesterday on the disgusting garbage shute, trying to stuff my overfull trash into the thing. Hope I don't get gangreen.

Oh yeah....hubs has agreed that we can go out to eat for Thanksgiving. There's is an American restaurant doing up the whole turkey dinner thing.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I'll be thinking about ya!

love me

The excitement never ends

The other day ,after walking ( freezing) and taking a subway (freezing) ,then taking a bus( freezing) and finally walking a long way in the wrong direction (freezing) ,I found the equivalant of Sams club. Woo hoo!!

I was giddy with excitement. I went thru each aisle and looked at all the things I had come to believe did not exsist in Denmark, such as phone cords.

Oh the prices ,they were so much better than every place else I have been. The meat, fish and vegetables had their own seperate chilled areas. It was like being inside a huge refrigerator.

They gave me a "one day" pass and said I was limited to spend 4,000 danish kroner.

The problem was , I was limited to what would fit in my backpack and a big tj maxx bag ,while still being able to make it home by walking, bus, subway and more walking.

I was devastated about all the stuff I could not buy. They had the coolest dishes ,laundry baskets , trash cans , huge bottles of booze , giant bags of vegetables, enormous packs of cheese and cheap boots ! I didn't even go down the Christams decoration aisles.

Later that night, out of the blue ,I excitedly screeched to my husband "OMG!
YOU can get a "one day "pass too!

We'll be back there :-)

I think we've been here about 3 weeks and I have been totally isolated due to the inabiltiy to find any phone cords to set up our vonage phone.

I have not spoken to anyone for ages.I am going batty with the need to call my kids.

Well like I mentioned above, that great store "Metro" had the elusive phone cords. Vonage should be up and working today! Woot!

(I'll be calling people when it's day time out in America) Damn you, time difference!

I had to order some stuff from the UK because I could not find it here. Such as throw rugs, a laundry airer, and I can't remember what else. But my point is, I'm stuck here until that stuff is delivered. They sent a little pair of hand weights seperately and then left a slip in the mailbox saying we had a package at the post office. Lovely. That meant ,since we didn't know "which" stuff was at the post office hubby had to walk there pushing a dolly through the freezing wind and snow to retrieve said package. As it turned out ,it was just the laundry airer (aka:old lady clothes rack)
I could tell that his little journey left him in an awesome mood.

That is why I have no exciting adventures to report. Damn drugery keeps getting in the way.

Last night we both took a nytol. I was shocked this morning when I woke up at 10 a.m. !
I had big plans today to go to a flea market (since hubby is here to wait on packages) I think it's probably going to be too late by the time I get ready and clean up this sty. It looks like the wind may have died down too.

I'm out'a here. Have a great day Peeps!

The trip and then some, if you can read it

UGH! I am just livid!

Do you know how long it took me to type all this, and then POOF! Gone. Just like that.

I hate to do this to you all but I'm afraid you will have to read my rough draft now.

Click on each one to make them bigger.

Good luck to you .

Have a great day peeps!

Hello....can you hear me?

Hello from Denmark!

I hope my computer gets here soon! We have no cable yet either but hubby has some thing called Mediagate where we can watch shows he's downloaded onto it ,on the tv. We've been watching Seinfeld every night.

I've been pen blogging every day ,with the intention of typing it all when I got my computer ,it may be too much to type by then so hope you guys will be able to read my chicken scratch.I am dying to upload my pictures too.

Yesterday was my first trip on the subway .We went to an area called Fredericksberg. That was actually the other choice we had on where to live ,but the kitchen was too small, no dishwasher ect. (I hope we don't regret that ) Oh ,anyway I'll be going back there in a couple days all by myself.

With hubby in tow is not the time(or the chance) to linger and take pictures and such. It's more like we run the entire time, while steam flows from his ears every time someone moseys right in front of us with their enormous baby stroller.

Thank God that move is OVER! Counting the house in the US ,I have been packing and moving for months. Sick of it ,would be the understatement of the year!

I sure miss everyone and being able to just pick up the phone or get on facebook :) ,hope you all are having good days and behavin'

Be back soon with a real long update so stay tuned ,

Luv me
