Happy new years my peeps!

Happy New Years Eve!

I should have some profound year end post going on here....but nooooo.

I thought about doing the "recap of the last decade" as some bloggers have. But frankly I can not remember when, during the decade, the events happened.

I think the young kids next door are about to have a party.

What are WE doing? Well about 11:30 today my spouse dropped me off in Southampton. It was freezing cold, half the thrift stores were closed and by 2:00 I was calling him to come get me. Everything will be closed for the next 2 days. We'll be trapped in this house. Thank God I have fresh library books.

As for tonight? We shall be eating leftover pot roast and watching lame ass t.v. shows. Why is it that I feel as if we're missing out on something? It's not like we EVER do (or have done) anything on New Years Eve.

Oh there was that one year we were in Ohio with my husbands siblings and their spouses, we tried to go out to dinner at this place called 94th Aero squadron. The place was packed, the staff was half missing, people were waiting so long to eat, they were ordering pizzas to be delivered to them. Before we even had our order taken, we were all half crocked and fighting amongst ourselves. I had also offered to start taking peoples orders for tips.

I think a few of us smoked (besides ME) and eventually we started smoking right where we sat. Some one told us” this is not the smoking section." (We were the ONLY people in the section because it was actually the freezing cold section) I told them “it IS NOW!"

Ok, that was hell.

Then we partied with the neighbors (at home) that one time. That was fun, but I'm sure we didn't stay up until midnight.

Maybe a few times ,we sat around with the kids and played Balderdash or Scrabble. That’s always a blast.

Ok, I just miss what I don't have. Maybe I also wish I had a reason to get dressed up. I look like crap every day. My husband wears a suit every day.

BRB...must go check my pot roast.......

Ok..where was I ? I guess I need to face the fact that I haven't gone out on New Years Eve since Jesus was a baby.

So let me see ,here's some stuff that happened in the last decade. (in no particular order) :

I went to : Chicago, Sweden, Florida, Texas, Washington, California, Arkansas, Ohio and England.

I camped in a yurt, a tent and a tree house .I spent the night at a "big cat preserve”, went to Disney world, and taught myself how to drive a boat.

My hair was short, extremely long, blond, brown, a mixture of both and became sort of curly after 40 some years of being straight as a stick.
I got braces (finally!) as an old woman. BTW, after I did ....so did 3 or 4 people in my office and they were in their 50's and 60's! I made old and nerdy COOL :)

Some swingers tried to pick up my husband and I , we saw nude swingers on the lake , in Arkansas ! A 19 year old kid hit on me. Geriatric geezers hit on me. I became invisible to men my own age. I gained a lot more wrinkles ,laughing my ass off with my kids and my girlfriends.

My kids grew up and moved out. I had to adjust to empty nest syndrome. It was pretty tough for the first 2 years. I became comfortable talking to myself and cats (a lot) :)

I had to fly to California to rescue my mother when the police called me and said " You're mother has Alzheimer’s and we have put her up for the week. What do you want to do with her?"

I had to make hard choices about the child she left behind.

I had to put my mother in a nursing home. I had to make the decision to NOT give my mother a feeding tube. I had to feel the wrath and blame of people who did not agree with my decisions, and again, when I was not there the moment she died, at 65.

I have seen that child grow up and become a mother.

I was shocked several times by other people’s behavior. I grew, I matured, I dealt with and worked on my personal issues and phobias, I learned to like myself more. I learned to eat in restaurants all by myself .I gained and lost and regained about a thousand pounds. I quit smoking twice for "long periods of time" once for 7 months, once for 4 months. I learned (finally) to cut toxic people OUT of my life. Life is too damn short.

My best friend had 3 daughters, got married and became a grandma. She and I spent many wonderful times together even though we live so FAR apart.

I also made many beautiful NEW friends...Hazel, Jeri, Jane, Eva (and of course Nick and G5).

My friend Heidi and I both had hysterectomies. Then I saw her adopt her awesome little girl, Emma from China. She got married too, after I signed her up on match .dom. (We cackled our butts off at my office while we made her profile)

I have seen nearly all my friends become grandmas.

I have seen my sons grow from boys to men , they are my pride and joy! I saw my baby boy get married to a girl we love. I have learned to try and not be so hysterical when they do dangerous things like wakeboarding, snoboarding, riding a bike, driving, crossing the street.

I have seen my husband work all over the world. I have learned to live aIone,I have learned to be less afraid, and to do man chores.

I have seen him work a zillion hours , flip through a zillion channels, watch a zillion old movies, news shows and (lousy) super hero movies.

I am still proud of him ,too in spite of all that annoying stuff :)

We have been together 12 years (I think) lol

I have fought and made up with my children,my husband ,my sister and my brother in law.

We have drank barrels of vodka, smoked billions of cigarettes, had millions of laughs ,thousands of heart aches, busshels of doubts and insecurtities, but in the end I can always see that God has been in charge and present in, not just OUR life ,but the lives of everyone we love.

*CHEERS my people! To an even more fabulous 2010!*

I love you guys!

......it's bed time for this old lady :)

Hi Ya'll,

Last night we went and saw the movie Avatar.
Normally, the very idea of this type of movie makes me cringe. I read a ton of reviews from regular people, not frekin movie critics,I never trust THOSE guys. Everyone said how "awesome, fabulous, amazing etc..." it was.

Well, I thought it was OK. But I'm just NOT a fantasy type person. So you may love it.

It was 3-d and the last time I saw a 3-d movie was probably 20 years ago and the glasses looked like this.

Last night ,they were like this. Really cheap ray Bans come to mind.

If you see the movie ,let me know what ya think ok?

PS, take your camera out and get some cool pics of the city and make another video.

I shall when it’s not freezing ass cold :)

Loved your video! You look great, by the way! Was that peach cobbler? It looked great, too!

Thanks. (Wish I felt the same) LOL Yes, that was peach cobbler. The easy, southern version. We normally do the frozen pie route, but you can not buy such things here. The cobbler was yummy even though I usually add some apple or pumpkin pie spice and didn’t have that here. Just a little cinnamon had to suffice.

Great video! Could even see the nhappy hour shot. We now are at older daughyers in Ft Worth. For Christmas at toungerb daus we bought a nice standing rib roast and had to cook it in a fry pan as dau didnt have a roasting pan. It was cooked perfectly only to find out that dau nd kids don't like medium rare. So we cut off our 2 perfect pieces and put the roast back to cremate it enuf to their liking. Be back home tomorrow. Unit H3 was broken into Christmas eve and 2 TVs were taken and furn tossed about. Praying that our unit will be OK, G5

Thanks G5 . Yikes ! Hope all of our units are OK. Let me know.

We just got back Bo's sister in Texas wrote at 4p they had 4-5 inches of snow and it was still coming down. We may get some after midnight. Hope not! I heard Chicago has snow, sleet and ice! Merry Christmas aj

Soul had a white Christmas in Texas. I shall post a pic of wacky Wes out in the snow in his undies.

Gifts are wrapped and waiting for the little ones to invade tomorrow afternoon. Hubby safely tucked in bed sleeping. I'm waiting for dough to rise for my home made cinn rolls. Wish you could be here to sample the first pan out.

Ooh! Mary, I wish I was there to eat it too! I have never had the patience to try making those.

Here at daughter's in Austin - it snowed briefly at 4 pm. Grandson Preston age 12 said he was going to bed at 9 so he could get up at 5 to see what santa brought. And i want to take pics. Gahhhhh!! 5 am. Merry Christmas to Smocha, hub and cat babies. G5

Ha! Did you have to get up at 5? We used to always be up that early, if not earlier)

Merry Christmas to you and your family. Here in Michigan its raining. Dark, dreary, windy and raining. It had been sleeting earlier but its 34 degrees now, so its changed to rain. I'm glad we haven't gotten that mess that's in the midwest right now....its just more horrible than you can imagine. So be safe, be warm and be happy. Make some fond memories.

Val, it was cold ,dark and dreary here too. Which is the norm . bleah!

Good heavens, I have the same problems....the seam in my huge pants gets bunched up under me....and the damned cats. Oh the damned cats....one has to be in the crook of my arm. Even if I don't want a crook in my arms...:)

The other, lays across my stomach, but only if I am on my side. Which means, I must SLEEP to please them now. GAH.

I know how stupid it sounds...but at two am, I'll do just about anything to make them quit pawing at me. At least they don't have claws...

I think you’re right, the pj’s being way too big IS part of the problem. Then add the 30 pounds of cats on the seams ….no wonder it hurts! LOL

Anonymous

I'm the witch, I put the cat in the laundry room at night so I can sleep. Otherwise, I'm sandwiched between hubby and the cat, and I wake up tired and bitchy.

Dang , you ARE a witch! LOL

Everyone's food sounds delisious. I'm surprised at what a variety there was. :)

*******************************************************************

Ok , we're off for the days big adventure...grocery shopping. WOO HOO!!

P.S. update your blogs! I'm bored!!!

Happy Sunday peeps!

Happy boxing day!

Ola Peeps,

Hope you all had a great Christmas.

Ours was just lovely in spite of us being all alone. We had a few kitchen glitches such as the roasting pan was too big for the oven, we had a pan shortage, we had a counter space shortage, the oven was so small that we had to cook the turkey and then cook the sides after the turkey came out andddd after all the whining I did about wanting a table and chairs, we didn’t even eat at the table. A couple days ago hubby leaned back in one of our cheap chairs and broke it.

Our food turned out fabulous (as usual) lol

We opened our few presents, we sat around watching Dick van Dyke dvd’s ,we cooked all day , we happy houred,I talked to my chilluns ,he spoke to his siblings ,(the phone died before I could call mine) we ate ,we watched more tv and finally went to bed about 10.

Then hubby decides to flip thru the channels (as per usual) ,right before I went insane he stopped on “The ten commandments” you know , the 5 hour movie? He is snoring up a storm about 10 minutes later, I ,on the other hand was up until 3 A.M. watching the entire movie..

Christmas 09 : The smochas

I'll be glad to get out of this house again. Today is boxing day here, so we won't be going anywhere today either.

happy Saturday all!

Merry Christmas eve...again....

Hi ya'll ,

ok this time I really mean it , Merry Christmas eve !

I sure am curious what everyone is doing this evening. We will be doing uhh nothing. We just went to the grocery store . Everything will be closed here until Sunday. We were going to go out to eat dinner. But decided to wait a couple days.

My computer was broken all day. It kept saying "system is shutting down" . It took hubs all day to fix it , he said it was "user error and was full of viruses." I didn't do anything. Just like I didn't change the font just then either, these machines have minds of their own!

My eldest should be in Chicago by now to spend Christmas with his brothers. We are a pretty sad pair here. We have a few presents under the tree. We HAVE a tree. One of the presents is just wadded up in a shower curtain. (my spous's idea of wrapping) lol

He used to pay the kids to wrap stuff for him.

Here is the story we need to remember.

Well, my mother was a Queen....

Oh the joy of being an old ,decrepit insomniac.
WTH ,I woke up because my skin is so dry and itchy. I woke up several times because the seam on my pajamas was digging into my hip like a knife.I woke up because O'reilly was draped over my ribs like a lead coat.I woke up dreaming that they had put Monkey in a home with 3 large dogs. Finally at 4:30 I woke up to the fox news blaring. (apparently my husband can't sleep either)
I'm up NOW.

When your skin is so sensitive that having your socks on the wrong feet or the seams of your pajamas can drive you insane ...you have got a problem.

This story came to mind. I had to refresh my memory.

Hans Christian Andersen

The Princess and the Pea

Once upon a time there was a prince who wanted to marry a princess; but she would have to be a real princess. He travelled all over the world to find one, but nowhere could he get what he wanted. There were princesses enough, but it was difficult to find out whether they were real ones. There was always something about them that was not as it should be. So he came home again and was sad, for he would have liked very much to have a real princess.
One evening a terrible storm came on; there was thunder and lightning, and the rain poured down in torrents. Suddenly a knocking was heard at the city gate, and the old king went to open it.
It was a princess standing out there in front of the gate. But, good gracious! what a sight the rain and the wind had made her look. The water ran down from her hair and clothes; it ran down into the toes of her shoes and out again at the heels. And yet she said that she was a real princess.
Well, we'll soon find that out, thought the old queen. But she said nothing, went into the bed-room, took all the bedding off the bedstead, and laid a pea on the bottom; then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on the pea, and then twenty eider-down beds on top of the mattresses.
On this the princess had to lie all night. In the morning she was asked how she had slept.
"Oh, very badly!" said she. "I have scarcely closed my eyes all night. Heaven only knows what was in the bed, but I was lying on something hard, so that I am black and blue all over my body. It's horrible!"
Now they knew that she was a real princess because she had felt the pea right through the twenty mattresses and the twenty eider-down beds.
Nobody but a real princess could be as sensitive as that.
So the prince took her for his wife, for now he knew that he had a real princess; and the pea was put in the museum, where it may still be seen, if no one has stolen it.

Ahhh...so that's it. I'm a spoiled ass princess.

COMMENTS TO YA'LLS COMMENTS :

People said :

Picture is Logan, I'm guessing! Girl's that age wear makeup.....

Holly crap it does look like Logan! Seems fitting though he always tells me he thinks of her as a sis. She is definitely prettier though

OHHHHH, OHHHHH. I know!!!! But I will wait till ppl have a guess.

Logan and Soulkid sure do look alike! Logan is very handsome, Soulkid is very attractive. I would say the pic with the long hair is Soulkid

yeah how ironic soul kid and Logan look alike and yes she is very pretty...very pretty! and Logan your a handsome young man

The picture is actually Logan. You can tell by the size of the hands that it is NOT a girl. Lol

It is funny how much they look alike because as little kids they did not resemble each other except for the eyes.

********************************************************************

Floosie 2 had a hen party Christmas brunch Saturday morning and you were missed. The invite said to leave kids at home but didn't say anything about husbands, so I showed up. I was the only male there so I quickly left (got outta Dodge). I am glad I got out of bed for that - I was actually able to get something done on Sat. by getting up the ungodly hour of 8:30. At least it wasn't still dark. G5

LOL , I wish I had been there. I bet you were as welcome as a bull in a china shop. :)

I want to hear all about this brunch !

**************************************************************************

hubby won't be traveling for Christmas- will he?

No. He actually leaves for Sweden today for a few days and then he will be off work for about a week . Surely we will drive each other nuts in this cracker box.

***************************************************************************

Love the pictures. Some day I hope to see it all for myself.

Thanks for the pictures! I know I'll never go since, even though I'm a witch, I don't fly! Love brick yard, pink house, all of it. Keep taking pictures!

That's the funniest thing you've said in ages. LOL

I've only been to England once, but your pictures make me long to go again! Where you live looks like a pretty place. Please keep taking pictures.

Well, I must say, it's not very pretty around here right now. I'm sure it looks much better in the spring .Hopefully I'll get to take some good pictures some day. Maybe not through a bus window :)

************************************************************************

Well yesterday we did nothing all day long . We finally went to the grocery store around 5 p.m. and shopped for Christmas dinner. 20£ pounds for a frozen turkey that weighs about 5 pounds, that's actually $33.03 what a damn ripoff!

Have a great day peeps!

The view from the bus......

Hi ya'll,

The other day when my bus picked me up it just happened to be one of the double Decker's ,I was the only person upstairs so I took some pictures. Here are the sights I see on my bus journey.

(click the pics to see them full size)

Inside the bus . I think only London had the red buses.

Notice how narrow the houses are.

Electrician freezing to death. This was a girl.

The scary branches ....mere inches from the bus.

Mini horses.

Most of the horses have those little coats on.

Titchfield mill. The pub we have been to a couple times.

Someones front yard. Pink house .

Note that the front yard is mostly bricks. They're not too big on lawns here. The majority of front yards are bricks, rocks or dirt.

A random street on the way to Fareham.

A single family house.

The pedestrian street in Fareham. Look how busy and crowded it is, even though it was extremely freezing cold out.

The day I took those pictures it started snowing on my way home ,I mean my mile walk home from the bus stop.

This is our inch of snow the next morning.

My hubby's flight home from Spain was delayed ,last night due to this blizzard.

Happy Saturday peeps!
